FOSC FUNDRAISER! SEPTEMBER 4, 2018, 4-10PM. GIVE BACK TUESDAY AT IRON SPRINGS FOR FOSC!  Fairfax location. 10% of the proceeds benefit FOSC!

FREE RESILIENT FORESTS PRESENTATION WAS HELD SATURDAY MAY 19, 6:30 – 9:30PM AT THE WOMEN’S CLUB, FAIRFAX – CATRIONA MACGREGOR PRESENTATION.  

FOSC’S ANNUAL BENEFIT CONCERT! NEW DATE!!! JUNE 17, 2018 – PERI PARK, FAIRFAX 1-6PM! This is the 7th annual free concert featuring The Eleven, a Grateful Dead cover band. DONATIONS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. All proceeds benefit FOSC with great music and dancing.  Come enjoy and support our beautiful Town.  NO ALCOHOL IN THE PARK.

FOSC ANNUAL JOLLY HILL BROOM PULL WAS HELD SUNDAY APRIL 8, 2018, 10am – NOON! Annual invasive broom pull in Fairfax. Long pants, long sleeves, sturdy shoes, sun protection and garden gloves a must.  Refreshments were served and broom-pulling equipment was provided.  Meet (rain or shine!) benhind the Marin Bicycle Museum, Sir Francis Drake Blvd., near Bennett House (corner of Claus/Taylor Drives).

FOSC OPEN SPACE CEREMONIAL PLANT WALK – APRIL 29, 2018, 10:00am – NOON! Meet at Peri Park at 10:00am, where we will caravan to the Cascade Canyon Open Space hiking area to begin our journey.  $15 – 20 donations suggested, no one will be turned away.

FOSC’s Sixth annual benefit concert by The Eleven, a Grateful Dead cover band was held in Peri Park on May 21, 2017.  It was a huge success, a free event with DONATIONS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED – all proceeds to benefit FOSC! Come celebrate and support our beautiful Town, great music and dancing in Fairfax.  No alcohol in the park.

Another successful event! GIVE BACK TUESDAY at Iron Springs to benefit FOSC was held on June 20, 2017! 765 Center Boulevard, Fairfax.  10% of the proceeds will be donated to FOSC to preserve, acquire and maintain open space in Fairfax.

Bald Hill Broom Bust – Tuesday Feb 21, 2017 was a great success! MMWD, Marin County Bike Coalition, Access 4 Bikes, Marin County Parks, FOSC and others participated for the annual Bald Hill Broom Bust! Students received  school service hours.  Volunteers focused on containing the spread of French & Scotch broom and also eradicating pioneer patches.

Broom Pull at Sky Ranch was a huge success! Saturday January 14, 2017 – Located on the borders of San Anselmo & Fairfax at Bald Hill, Sky Ranch is now part of the Bald Hill Preserve.  Work is proceeding to restore the land to its natural state – now is the time to remove invasive broom that infests the preserve, before it goes to seed. FOSC and the San Anselmo Open Space Committee are sponsoring – tools and water to be provided along with chili and salad lunch.  Students to receive community service hours. Meet at Doc Edgar Park in Fairfax at 9am to carpool to the site.

 

2015 & 2016 Fairfax Open Space Committee (FOSC) Fundraising and Volunteer Events 

Iron Springs – FOSC fundraisers were held in June 2015 and on June 21, 2016: The annual fundraisers were held at Iron Springs Pub & Brewery, 765 Center Blvd., Fairfax. 10% of the proceeds from Iron Springs’ Give Back Tuesday were donated to FOSC to preserve, acquire and maintain open space for Fairfax. 

Annual FOSC Benefit Concerts were held in 2015 and 2016 in Peri Park, Fairfax: San Francisco’s premiere Grateful Dead tribute band, The Eleven, played at the 4th & 5th annual FOSC benefit concerts with proceeds donated to FOSC. The concerts are free with donations strongly encouraged.

Annual FOSC Jolly Hill broom pulls were held in 2015 & 2016. 

 

2014 Fairfax Open Space Committee (FOSC) Fundraising and Volunteer Events 

Iron Springs – FOSC fundraiser: Iron Springs devoted their 10-year anniversary celebration to FOSC on October 18, 2014. A benefit concert was held to raise funds for FOSC to support their mission. Wrist bands for the music benefit were for sale for $20 with all the concert proceeds donated to FOSC.

Sky Ranch Fundraiser was held July 17, 2014 at 19 Broadway in Fairfax: Olive & the Dirty Martinis (the band’s vocalist is Stephanie Coyote and guitarist is James Redford) played for benefit. Tickets were $20 as a tax-deductible donation for the acquisition of Sky Ranch. See www.OATDM.com about the band. 

Iron Springs FOSC Fundraiser was held on June 17, 2014: Proceeds from the event were primarily used to acquire Sky Ranch, 10% of the proceeds from Iron Spring’s Give Back Tuesday were donated to FOSC.

Annual FOSC Benefit Concert was held on May 4, 2014 in Peri Park, Fairfax: San Francisco’s premiere Grateful Dead tribute band, The Eleven, played at the 3rd annual FOSC benefit concert.

2013 & 2012 Fairfax Open Space Committee (FOSC) Fundraising and Volunteer Events 

FOSC TREASURE HUNT was held on October 27, 2013: FOSC hosted a Fairfax-themed Treasure Hunt – a sliding scale fee of $20 to $50 was requested as a donation to the Fairfax Open Space Committee for each team or individual working to solve Fairfax-themed clues to answer riddles. Prizes were awarded to the fastest teams and individuals who answered all the riddles correctly. There was a raffle for additional prizes, and open space-themed gifts for all entrants.

Another FOSC fundraiser was held on July 21, 2013: You run – Fairfax Open Space wins! Marin’s newest all ages run took place on July 21st – when you registered, a portion of your registration went to support FOSC for acquiring open space. This was the inaugural 415Mile & Miracle Mile run with a post-race celebration on 4th Street in downtown San Rafael.

FOSC Fundraiser at Iron Springs on June 18, 2013: Iron Springs Pub and Brewery’s Give Back Tuesday fundraiser benefitted the Fairfax Open Space Committee. Iron Springs donated 10% of its day’s sales to FOSC. Marin Produce contributed an additional 5% of daily sales, for a total of 15%. Thanks to all who attended and enjoyed fine food and drink which benefitted our open space in Fairfax!

FOSC Benefit Concert on Memorial Day Weekend–May 26, 2013, in Peri Park, Fairfax: A local Grateful Dead Tribute Band, The Eleven, performed an outdoor concert to benefit FOSC. A raffle was also held with great local prizes. All proceeds were donated to FOSC for their efforts to preserve and acquire open space in Fairfax. A San Francisco-based tribute band, The Eleven draws on nearly a century of collective musical talent and changing gear, sounds, vocals and dynamics in its precise approach to the legendary music of the Grateful Dead. The band is known for highly authentic concert performances that reproduce the sound, feel and vibe of specific eras in the Grateful Dead catalog. Band members: Clint Bajakian, Nick Sandoval, Michael Land, Ryan Hickey, Paul Scannell, and Paige Clem. 

FOSC Postcard was mailed to all Fairfax residents in December 2012:  It’s that time of the year! Please donate to FOSC by making out your check to the “Town of Fairfax Open Space Committee.” This will ensure that your donation is used only for FOSC purposes. FOSC Earth Day Benefit Concert: On Saturday, April 21, 2012, a local Grateful Dead Tribute Band, The Eleven, performed an outdoor concert in Peri Park to benefit FOSC. The band is known for highly authentic concert performances that reproduce the sound, feel and vibe of specific eras in the Grateful Dead catalog.
