Short-Term Rental Program
Starting April 15, 2024, all short-term rentals in the Town of Fairfax must:
- Register with the Town annually
- Pay a registration fee
- Begin collecting and remitting Hotel User's Tax (HUT)
Important: Operating a short-term rental without registration is a violation of the Town Code and may result in citations, fines, and/or other administrative fees. These regulations are in place to ensure fairness for all short-term rental and lodging operators and to maintain the quality of life for residents.
A Business License is not required: The Town is not currently requiring a business license for short-term rentals. When registering, please enter 0000 when prompted for your business license number.
