November 1, 2023 Highlights

Resolution Approving Maximum Rates collected by Marin Sanitary Service

The Council approved an increased rate adjustment of 4.68% for solid waste collection services by Marin Sanitary. The new rate will go into effect on January 1, 2024.

Fleet Zero-Emissions Vehicle Policy

The Council adopted a Zero-Emissions Vehicle Policy for the Town’s fleet (police and public works vehicles). The Fleet ZEV Policy is a plan that outlines how the Town will buy and manage its vehicles. The goal is to reduce pollution and think about long-term costs when getting new vehicles.

Residents’ Petition Regarding Implementation of the Rent Control Ordinances

The Council discussed possible implementation strategies of the rent control ordinances. The Council directed staff to highlight the estimated implementation costs noted in the FY2023-24 Budget and to post this information on the program webpage.

Funding Plan for a Third Firefighter

The Council discussed and supported staff on a funding plan and start date for a third fire fighter on certain engines. Interim Ross Valley Fire Chief Dan Mahoney was present.

Temporary Road Closure of Bolinas Road for a Chamber of Commerce Holiday Event

The Council approved temporarily closing Bolinas Road between Elsie and Broadway on December 15th for a holiday shopping event hosted by the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber has named the event Fa La La La La Fairfax. More details will be provided by the Chamber and made available on the Town’s website soon.
