Heavy Rainfall Prompts Marin Shelter Activation

County Health and Human Services to assist those experiencing homelessness

San Rafael, CA – In response to the National Weather Service’s prediction of several days of rainfall in the Bay Area, Marin County is activating its Severe Weather Emergency Shelter (SWES) for people experiencing homelessness.

Individuals experiencing homelessness can seek temporary overnight relief at the heated San Rafael location from 5 p.m. Thursday, December 29, through 6:30 a.m. Friday, December 30. SWES plans to reopen at 5 p.m. Friday until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 31. Individuals are encouraged to sign in by 8 p.m. each evening.

The County is currently not accepting community volunteers or donations for the emergency shelter.
