RACIAL MAKE UP OF THE FAIRFAX POLICE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL

With the recent events across the nation and calls for policy reform amongst municipal police agencies, another topic has been calls for more racial diversity within these agencies.

It is readily apparent to those within our community that we have a very diverse police force here in Fairfax.  Below is the current make up of your Fairfax Police Department.  The break down is of your Sworn Police Officers and Non-Sworn Employees which are your dispatchers, parking personnel and cadets.

10 SWORN POLICE OFFICERS (1 vacant and 1 frozen position not counted)

White:  3

Black:  2

Hispanic:  2

Filipino:  2

Pacific Islander / Other Asian:  1

9 NON-SWORN PERSONNEL

White:  4

Black:  2

Hispanic:  2

Pacific Islander / Other Asian:  1

PERCENTAGE break down of the above 19 Total Police Department Employees

63.16 % = Persons of color (Non-White)

36.84 % = White

I am very proud of the work that each of our employees do for our community.  In the 10 years I have been the Police Chief I have hired all but two of these employees.  They are a fine group of men and women.
