On December 15, 2021, the Town Council of Fairfax appointed Heather Abrams as its new Town Manager.

Heather Abrams is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, and she completed an executive certificate in Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School. Ms. Abrams earned an MBA from California State University Monterey Bay. She is the current President of the Marin Special Districts Association, serves on the Board of California Women Leading Government, and is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) scholarships and events committee. Ms. Abrams has 20 years of experience managing operations and programs for local government. She brings a varied perspective as a result of having worked for a large multi-national corporation, owning her own business, and working for Bay Area local governments. In local government, Ms. Abrams worked with Cities, Counties, and Special Districts.

Ms. Abrams is very familiar with Marin County. For the past five years, Ms. Abrams has served as the General Manager for the Tamalpais Community Services District near Mill Valley. Previously, she served as the Sustainability Manager for the City of Menlo Park, California. Ms. Abrams is the recipient of an ICMA Award of Excellence, two employee recognition awards from CH2M, four Beacon Spotlight Awards for Sustainability from the Institute for Local Government, the 2016 Silicon Valley Water Conservation Award, and won special recognition for her work on the City of Menlo Park’s General Plan update.

In her spare time, Ms. Abrams enjoys hiking, biking, and scuba diving. She loves family adventures and learning about new topics. “I’m excited and honored to be selected as the next Town Manager for Fairfax.  The Town of Fairfax is such a wonderful special place, I cannot wait to get started. I have found the Town Council, staff, and residents to be thoughtful, hardworking, and forward thinking. As we tackle the challenges of the years ahead together, I look forward to engaging with everyone and becoming part of the Town fabric”.
