Climate Action Coordinator

The Towns of Fairfax and San Anselmo are jointly seeking a dedicated individual to serve as the Climate Action Coordinator. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in leading efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and implement climate change adaptation plans for both communities. Position Overview

As the Climate Action Coordinator, you will work under the direction of the Town Managers of Fairfax and San Anselmo to organize, manage, and implement GHG emission reduction goals and climate change adaptation plans. This role requires a combination of expertise in climate action and local policy to collaborate with Town Departments, set Climate Action Plan Implementation goals, research and recommend measures to further climate commitments, and develop programs to engage the community in climate actions. Additionally, you will identify grant opportunities and foster partnerships to support ongoing climate initiatives. This is a full-time position split equally between Fairfax and San Anselmo.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to organize, manage, and implement GHG emission reduction goals and climate change adaptation plans for both Towns.
  • Collaborate with Town Departments to set Climate Action Plan Implementation goals in the annual Work Plan.
  • Research and recommend measures to advance climate commitments and sustainability goals.
  • Develop and implement programs to engage the community in climate actions and promote awareness.
  • Identify grant opportunities and establish partnerships to support climate initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on climate action progress to Town Managers and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Public Policy, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in climate action, sustainability, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of climate change science, GHG emissions reduction strategies, and climate policy.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with local governments, community organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $8,057 to $9,327 per month for Fiscal Year 2023/24.
