The Department of Public Works is aware of the unacceptable delays caused by yesterday’s paving operations on Sir Francis Drake Blvd between White’s Hill School and the top of White’s Hill. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
We have taken steps to correct this and have been assured by the contractor that the delays will not exceed 5 minutes in either direction along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard for the duration of the work. We have taken further steps to consider commute traffic and have limited lane closures to between the hours of 9am and 3pm – meaning both lanes open until 9am and both lanes open at 3pm.
If delays are noted to be longer than 5 minutes, we will shut down the contractor’s operations, open both lanes immediately, and formulate a plan that ensures delays are limited to 5 minutes maximum. This may include further restricting work hours, up to and including night work.
The lane closures required to conduct the paving operations are scheduled to be complete by the end of next week – September 20, 2019. Related project activities are scheduled through the end of October 2019 but are not expected to significantly impact traffic flow.
We will continuously monitor the contractor’s operations through the completion of this project and adjust if necessary, to ensure delays are minimized. Please visit our Facebook and Twitter pages for the latest information about this project.
Again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
