Housing Element documents

The Town received a letter from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) on April 8, 2024 that certifies the Town of Fairfax, Housing Element 2023-31 has been certified by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). The culminates years of community workshops, public meetings, work by Town staff, the Planning Commission and Town Council.

The Town has made minor administrative corrections to the Action Plan contained within the adopted Fairfax Housing Element, 2023-31. The adopted Housing Element is currently under review by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) and after a phone consultation with Town staff, a clarification was requested by HCD related to the ministerial processing of affordable housing projects. Specifically, any project with at least 20 percent of units affordable to lower income households within the Workforce Housing Overlay zone are entitled to a ministerial approval if consistent with established object design and development standards. The most recent changes are identified in blue highlight. Other changes are identified in red underline.

Deadline to submit comments: March 22, 2024

The Town has made minor administrative corrections to certain sections of the 2023-31 Housing Element, adopted by the Town Council on December 13, 2023. The adopted Housing Element is currently under review by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). The revised sections of the Housing Element will be available on the web site for seven days and resubmitted to HCD with the administrative corrections for additional review.

Deadline to submit comments: February 16, 2024

On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, the Town of Fairfax received its Draft Environmental Impact Report. Public comments are encouraged on the draft EIR. Email housing@townoffairfax.org to submit your public comment.

On November 10, 2023, any public comments that have been submitted will be collected and responded to in the Final EIR document.
