• ON-LINE WORK REQUESTS

The Public Works Department has substantially shifted to tracking work through our new iWorQ system. Citizens and staff can now submit requests through the Town website by going to the Public Works Department section and clicking on the active Public Works Maintenance Request link. The direct link is:
    Public Works Maintenance Request
Please save this link in your favorites to send routine work requests to Public Works staff. An e-mail is sent directly to the Director of Public Works and the Senior Maintenance Worker. The request is then converted to a Work Order that tracks time and materials for each request. This system will be extremely helpful in evaluating Department efficiency and for budget preparation. Keep in mind emergency requests should be called in through Police Dispatch or through the main Public Works line.

  • EDWARD J. KELLY HONORED

The first anniversary of the death of our beloved Town Treasurer, Finance Director and Ross Valley Firefighter, Ed Kelly, is on November 27, 2008, when he died from job-related cancer. It is very fitting that he was honored in Sacramento on October 18th with the placement of his name among those of other devoted firefighters on the California Firefighters Memorial on the State Capitol grounds. The memorial is built of bronze and limestone and honors the spirit of those who put their lives on the line each day. The polished stone slab lists the names of more than 1,000 California firefighters who have died in the line of duty since California became a state in 1850.

Ed was not just a dedicated Ross Valley Firefighter. He was also the Finance Director and Treasurer for the Town of Fairfax for over twenty years, (his father, Al Kelly was the Treasurer before him) and a friend to many. A devoted sports fan, especially of NASCAR, he had an infectious laugh and an endless supply of jokes. His tight-fisted handling of the Town’s finances and dedication to the Town was tempered by his wonderful sense of humor and ability to laugh. Ed was always available to help out a friend and he had many. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and is fondly remembered by his family and co-workers.

  • READY FOR RAIN?

The rainy season is upon us. Please keep the drains clear by keeping curb areas free of leaves and other debris. Once you have picked up the leaves, you can put them in cans for the green waste pickup on your regular garbage day. Please don't just rake leaves into your curb area, hoping that the street sweeper will come by and pick them up. Leaves left in curb areas will clog drains quickly when winter rains arrive.

Attention Creek Dwellers! Please remove any debris that is in the creek adjacent to your property in preparation for the rainy season.

Residents who pick up their leaves, keep an eye on neighborhood drains, maintain the creek and clear clogs during storms will help to keep winter storm water flowing where it's supposed to be!

Our Public Works Department thanks you for your cooperation.
