MINUTES CLERK

The Town of Fairfax is seeking a Minutes Clerk to prepare minutes for the Town Council, Planning Commission and the Design Review Board. The minutes are kept as an important part of the Town’s records. The Town Council meets on the first Wednesday of the month, the Planning Commission meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month and the Design Review Board meets on the second Wednesday. All meetings are in the evening. The job requires attendance at the meetings and the preparation of the minutes for approval at the following meeting. On occasion, the Minutes Clerk might also be asked to attend and prepare minutes of special meetings. The Minutes Clerk is paid for attendance at the meetings as well as for the time spent preparing the minutes after the meeting. The standard for preparation is 1.5 times the length of the meeting. For a two hour meeting, the preparation of minutes would be anticipated to take three hours. For this example, the Minutes Clerk would be paid for a total of five hours for the two-hour meeting. The starting rate for this position is $30 - $35/hour. Experience preparing minutes is highly desirable.
